Day Six: Kuumba (koo-OOM-bah), creativity. To do always as much as we can, in the way we can, in order to leave our community more beautiful and beneficial than we inherited it.

“The desire to create is one of the deepest yearnings of the human soul.”
– Dieter F. Uchtdorf
Creativity is the center of who we are … as children of God each of us has the internal desire to create something that didn’t exist before. Many individuals feel that they are not creative, but this is simply not the case. Creation is more than just creating on a canvas with paint, making a statue out of clay, or playing a song on the violin. Creativity has many forms from baking beautiful loaves of bread to feed your family, creating memories that bring joy and laughter or building a home that is a safe haven full of love. There are so many ways that we can create beautiful things that will uplift and edify others.
I am so grateful for the ability I have to create in so many different ways – lettering, designing, writing, photography, and more. May each of you find a way to create and make the world around us a little more beautiful!
“God’s purpose for the artist is to inspire, to give us visions of ourselves that we might not otherwise see, to make us better than we would have been. The world is better for the arts and righteous artists in it. In the quest to achieve greatness in artistic pursuits—whether in painting, dance, music, drama, film, sculpture, or the written word—we should always seek first to achieve God’s purposes.” – M. Russell Ballard
