CHARACTERIZATION

I have decided to try and be more open on here. To write down my thoughts and feelings and share a bit more of myself. I do this cautiously but I think it will be healthy and will feel good to allow a few people in.

Character is an account of the qualities or peculiarities of a person or thing. I have been thinking about the character of certain individuals around me.

A few months ago Mr. Pimptastic entered my life. (Thank you to my hilarious sister for the fitting nickname). Mr. Pimptastic entered my life through email. He is a friend of one of my friends and came in touch with me after getting my email from a mass email my friend had sent out. At first Mr. Pimptastic seemed like the perfect individual. We had much in common and I really looked forward to our conversations. He is serving our country in Iraq and therefore was far from home and we were limited to the computer for our interactions. It didn't take long for my heart to become involved. This scared me, as here was someone I had never met in person. I had never heard his voice and I had only seen a photo of him. How in the world could I allow him into my heart under these circumstances? He made comments that indicated that he felt the same way and so I ignored the nagging in my head and allowed my heart to fall in deeper. This was a big mistake. Our entire friendship was a big mistake. The only positive is that I learned early on that Mr. Pimptastic was not all he made himself out to be. He had a serious girlfriend that he was planning to marry. I asked myself (and also him) if he had a girlfriend what was he doing with me? He had the nerve to suggest that she was dating other people while he was away so I could consider what we were doing as online dating. Wrong answer! I decided to give him the benefit of the doubt and try to just be friends. He agreed and said what he knew I wanted to hear. I quickly learned that he had no intention of just being friends. Now that his charade was over he didn't need me anymore. Since that last conversation I have visited his website and have discovered that he has moved on to someone else. It shows exactly what kind of character Mr. Pimptastic is.

Unfortunately Mr. Pimptastic isn't the only person in my life that has hurt me and used my tender heart. I am not trying to write a man bashing blog here, but I must admit that it is getting harder and harder not to develop the "Men are Pigs" attitude that my co-worker has.

How do we know when our heart is safe? How do we know that someone is trustworthy? And how do I allow myself to trust others again when people like Mr. Pimptastic are out there? I am starting to question my own judgment ...

YOU CAN CALL ME GRACE!
Posted on 22 December 2007 by Ali ||
The snow has officially arrived. Over the past month we have had storms but most of the snow has quickly gone away. Well now it is here and already I have managed to fall on my caboose twice. At least my landings were graceful!
CHRISTMAS BELLS ARE RINGING
Posted on 11 December 2007 by Ali ||

I finished about 80% of my Christmas shopping yesterday. Today I went to a Christmas performance by the West High School ACappella. The Christmas decorations are up. The Christmas cds are playing. It is definitely here!

P.S. And to fit in with the season is my new layout! Enjoy!

CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!?!
Posted on 3 December 2007 by Ali ||
I got the Employee of the Week award today. I can't even believe it. Work implemented the employee of the week award last week and I can't believe I got it already. It feels good to know that my efforts are proving to be beneficial to my work environment. Also on Friday I received a thank you note from one of our clients. It sure is nice to feel appreciated.
LOVE IS IN THE AIR!
Posted on 2 December 2007 by Ali ||

I had the wonderful opportunity to spend time with two of my friends who recently became engaged yesterday and I wanted to take a moment and let them know how happy I am for them! Here's to a wonderful eternity for the two of you together ... even if there are monkey babies! Love you two!

I'VE BEEN TAGGED
Posted on 26 November 2007 by Ali ||

Thanks Bean for the tag!

Here are 6 things about me you might not know...

1. I have three half brothers and one half sister.

2. I was originally supposed to be named Stephanie Allison but because my grandmother hated the name Stephanie my mom decided to make the peace and named me Allison Mae instead (Mae is my grandmother's middle name)

3. I love books about the temples and have a great collection of books dedicated to the different builds and such. I have a few that I should own but don't ... I did buy another new one this weekend.

4. I have met six gold medal swimmers. I was a huge fan of Michael Phelps until I met him the second time and he was kind of a big jerk. Too bad his talent didn't transfer to his personality.

5. I am a total sentimentalist pack rat ... I have shoe boxes full of crazy stuff. I have a rock from hiking, photo ids from college and high school, concert programs, high school graduation announcements, etc ... I have too much stuff!

6. I only saw the Lord of the Rings movies because every time one came to theaters a guy I liked invited me to go. I know ... I am a dumb girl!

So there you have it.

Here are the rules: 1. Each person list 6 facts/habits about themselves. 2. At the end of the post, the player tags 6 people and posts their names, and then goes to their blog and leaves them a comment, letting them know they have been tagged and asking them to read your blog for the rules.

I am tagging Katie, Brenda, Sarah Jane, Tania, Laura

THE POWER OF A PAIR OF SCISSORS
Posted on 18 November 2007 by Ali ||

Well I have been in need of a change lately and the first one came in the form of a change in hairstyles ... and to the dismay of at least one close friend it came with a new cut and some new color.

I love it!

STANDING ON THE EDGE OF AN ABYSS
Posted on 14 November 2007 by Ali ||
I have been thinking a lot lately about my plans and goals. You know when you finish high school you feel as if the future is wide and open to you. You plan on going to school and have dreams of what you see your future being. I must admit that my future didn't turn out quite the way I would have planned, yet I still feel as if the future is wide. I just don't know what to do to fill it up. I have considered applying for a part time job as a photographer ... just not sure if I am qualified. Do I want to go back to school? Move to a whole new state and start fresh. Seriously ... any suggestions?
HOPPING ON THE BANDWAGON

I got this idea from my good friend Katie and she got it from her cute cousin Angie who got it from her friend ... so of course I had to join the fun!
You Are An INFJ
The Protector

You live your life with integrity, originality, vision, and creativity.
Independent and stubborn, you rarely stray from your vision - no matter what it is.
You are an excellent listener, with almost infinite patience.
You have complex, deep feelings, and you take great care to express them.

In love, you truly see relationships as an opportunity to connect and grow.
You enjoy relationships as long as they are improving and changing. You can't stand stagnation.

At work, you stay motivated and happy... as long as you are working toward a dream you support.
You would make a great photographer, alternative medicine guru, or teacher.

How you see yourself: Hardworking, ethical, and helpful

When other people don't get you, they see you as: Manipulative, weak, and unstable

What's Your Personality Type?

Ali on a more personal level ...

You are talkative and adventurous. The world is your canvas, a place to be creative and explore. The small things in life bring the biggest smiles to your face. You are enthusiastic about life and love learning new things.

Your strengths include photography, seeing the world through another's eyes, the ability to forgive others and being creative.

Your weaknesses include being overly emotional, obsessing about your weight, having a hard time trusting others and yourself, and talking too much and too fast!

You over analyze EVERYTHING. You think too much and worry too much about things you can not control. Sometimes thinking can be a good things but sometimes it can lead you into trouble.

If you could describe yourself in one word, it would be tenderhearted.

You delight in spending time with your six nieces and nephew and find the greatest joy in listening to them tell stories and hearing them laugh.

You have an obsession with french fries … especially covered with cheese. (the best ones can be found at Dee's and should be smothered in pepper and fry sauce)

At work you are through with your job and very organized unless you become overwhelmed. Then you freak out and start making lots of mistakes. Sometimes you find it hard to focus and would much rather talk with your co-workers, which your boss finds displeasing.

You find love to be eluding. It seems to run from you. When in love you give your heart completely.

Your family is an important part of your life and has helped guide you and make you the person that you are. It is a small group of people that are mostly not blood related to you, but they are the most important people in your life.

You believe that Thursday nights were meant for curling up in front of the television and watching "The Office."

You wish you felt more in control of your life, that you could be as organized at home as you are at work, that the world could find a way to live in peace, that your friends could fulfill the dreams that they each have. You wish for education and love.

You dream of finding true love and having a family and home of your own. You want to travel the world with your camera in tow discovering all that there is waiting to be discovered.
